Renowned and esteemed figure in the Durban engineering industry, Frikkie Koch has recently ventured into a new business, opening a brand new company. Embarking on familiar territory, Frikkie opened his first cut and supply business in Pinetown 36 years ago called Koch’s Cut and Supply. fifteen years ago, Frikkie sold Koch’s Cut and Supply but stayed on in a managerial capacity.
Young at heart and bursting with energy at the age of 67, Frikkie was adamant that he was not yet ready for retirement. So, backed by directors of Industrial Scrap; James Roberts, Mark Bennett and Kim Marais and with his son Clint as the main partner, Industrial Metal Profiling was born. Not even three months old, the premises is a hive of activity and the business is doing exceptionally well.
Located in Westmead, Industrial Metal Profiling specialises in flame cutting,bending, rolling, and guillotining. They supply parts for truck body and trailer repairs, which allows smaller transporters to do their own repairs. A unique service that is offered by Industrial Metal Profiling is supplying the stainless steel industry with 6m lengths of stainless steel angles and channels. Their high definition plasma cutter is the biggest in Durban at 23×3.2m and their 6m brake press has a bending capacity of 400 tons. Supplying small business through to large companies, their services are required in a number of industries from ship repair to mining.
